Class 1A basketball features a new number one team in the Colorado Preps poll as Holly returns to the top spot following their impressive win at Cheyenne Wells last week.  The Wildcats need only a win over Granada on Tuesday to close the regular season at 19-0.

RANKINGS

#1 Holly (18-0)
#2 Cheyenne Wells (16-1)
#3 Sierra Grande (15-1)
#4 Peetz (14-4)
#5 Longmont Christian (15-2)
#6 Front Range Baptist (16-2)
#7 Flagler (13-4)
#8 Kit Carson (13-4)
#9 Rocky Mountain Lutheran (17-1)
#10 Primero (10-2)
TEAMS TO WATCH:  Weldon Valley (14-4), Shining Mountain (12-6), Denver Jewish Day (11-3), Wiley (10-6), South Baca (10-6), McClave (10-7)
NOTES:  Other than Holly moving back up to #1, the biggest news in the poll this week is the drop of Flagler from fourth to seventh.  There are two reasons for the drop as the Panthers are battling some key injuries and they lost at home to unranked McClave on Saturday. Moving up one spot apiece as a result were Peetz, Longmont Christian and Front Range Baptist.  Primero is the lone newcomer as the Bulldogs stayed alive for the Southern Peaks championship with their win over Sangre De Cristo.  The Bulldogs face Sierra Grande on Tuesday in a very important game in that race.  Also this week are huge matchups between Cheyenne Wells-Kit Carson and Rocky Mountain Lutheran-Front Range Baptist for league titles and top district seeds.
